About this course
Treating the Whole Person: Complex Clinical Issues in Addiction Recovery is a one-day interactive training designed to help residential addiction treatment professionals address the clinical complexities that extend beyond substance use. Participants will explore individualized treatment planning, co-occurring mental health disorders, suicide-risk assessment, medications used in recovery, and strategies for working constructively with ambivalence. The training concludes with an examination of the Drama Triangle and how patterns of victimhood, rescuing, blame, and overfunctioning can emerge among patients, families, and treatment teams. Through clinical examples and practical application, participants will learn to provide integrated, trauma-informed, and person-centered care that balances compassion, accountability, appropriate boundaries, and patient autonomy.
